Applying Standing Meditation to any Tai Chi Movement with Ellie and Bev--part 3 of 3, 3/19/26
*NOTE: If you are a volunteer instructor through Tai Chi Vermont, enrichment workshops are supported by your sponsoring Area Agency on Aging. Enter the special code that’s been shared with you previously at checkout so you can register for this event for FREE!
Standing Meditation, called Zhan Zhuang in China where it originated, translates literally as “pole standing” or “standing like a tree.” Master Jim Scott-Behrends, lineage holder in the Nam Hoa Temple Qigong system, has this to say about it:
“Even though our bodies are filled with energy, its free flow is often blocked. Through muscular and mental tension we deprive ourselves of this precious resource and deplete our natural vitality. Zhan Zhuang is a unique exercise that reverses this process of degeneration. By using dynamic stillness, it builds up an extraordinary flow of natural energy that is dormant inside of us, and this raises the body and mind to remarkably high levels of fitness.”
Sessions will be offered live online, 10-11 a.m. Adding this item to your cart will register you for the third (and final) session only—see the related items on the Tai Chi Vermont registration page to register for those sessions individually. You can attend just one of these sessions or plan to attend all three.
All three sessions will help you listen deeply and develop the patience and concentration that lead to grounding, strength and inner stability.
This 60-minute session is $10
