Certification and Re-certification Trainings

Balmy weather and a wonderful group of new instructors. Training in Fall Prevention Level One took place March 31 and April 1, 2024 at Castleton Community Center.

Prepare well for your training

When you register, training videos will be sent to you so that you can pre-learn the tai chi movements. The energy you put into your pre-learning will help you succeed in becoming a safe and effective instructor.

Please remember that Tai Chi Vermont now requires a $50 registration fee for all trainings. If your affiliated Area on Aging is supporting your training, they will refund the $50 once you’ve completed a round of volunteer training for them.

Each Fall Prevention Training, along with Trainings for Yang 24 Forms and Sun 73 Forms is open for both full certification or RE-certification. Those recertifying can attend either both days or one day (the cost is the same—half of the full certification cost).

Above you see a happy group of certifiers from a 2017 training in Burlington. Recognize some of those faces? Thanks to Nilah Cote for sending along this photo.

Yang 24 Forms, Sept. 12 & 13, led by Anne Bower, assisted by others

Location: Charlotte Cong. Church (403 Church Hill Rd), 9-4:30 each day. If re-certifying you can attend one day or two (cost is half regular fee either way).

Registration closes August 24th. You will need to pay the usual $50 registration fee, but if you are affiliated with one of our Area Agencies on Aging they will reimburse you after you meet your volunteer teaching obligation with them.

Bring your own lunch, please. There’s a full kitchen at the church, but there are places nearby to buy sandwiches and salads. We will probably have some simple snacks on hand.

Fall Prevention Tai Chi, Level One, Oct. 17 & 24, 9-4:30 each day plus a required Zoom session Oct. 3, led by Laurie Knauer and others

Location: St. John’s Episcopal Church (15 Summer St.), Randolph.

Registration for this training will open Aug. 24th, but we wanted to let you know about this upcoming opportunity ahead of time.

As Tai Chi instructors you are aware of students in your classes who have the potential to become instructors; please encourage them to learn more and think about becoming trained.

We will soon post the 2026 schedule for Fall Prevention Tai Chi trainings along with the Sun 73 Forms certification/recertification.
